Choreographer Richard Dickinson (Ohio Ballet) creates a new production that is sure to generate heat. With music based on the opera version, focusing on string and percussion, join us for a laid-bare Carmen as we return to Cleveland Public Theatre's DanceWorks series in a reimagining that is not to be missed!

Rockin' Summer at Cain Park
Verb Ballets has a rockin' story at Cain Park! The music of Janis Joplin and Joe Cocker meets the world of contemporary dance in Christopher Fleming's "Janis & Joe" to create a little bit of Woodstock in Cleveland Heights. The company also performs a world premiere by Antonio Brown of the Bill T. Jones Dance Company and a very special company premiere of Ohio Ballet founder Heinz Poll's rarely staged "Songs Without Words," set to the music of Felix Mendelssohn. Cain Park is produced by the City of Cleveland Heights. This show is co-presented by Verb Ballets and Cain Park.

The West meets the East in an evening of ritual, tradition, and Alternative Moves. First, to Taiwan to experience the mystery and love between Princess Baleng and the Hundred-pace Snake deity through the masterful choreography of Chung-Fu Chang in this World Premiere, The Lily. Go back in time in America and be rocked by the religious pioneers The Shakers (1931), by modern dance pioneer Doris Humphrey, performed in honor of Shaker Heights’ centennial. Then, head to Argentina for the drama and rebellion during the time of Peron with a tango in Troy McCarty’s newest dance, Otra Luna.
