Verb Ballets is committed to nurturing wellness and has brought dance to elder populations since its initial season. Moving Connections is a movement-based dance-therapy program that offers seniors a series of workshops that teach principles of breathing, balance, stretching and partnering. It fosters a healthy lifestyle and sense of community among seniors, nursing home staff, and professional dancer-educators. The program provides seniors with an opportunity to observe and experience new ways of moving, regardless of personal limitations. It has been particularly helpful in building community and in giving Alzheimer's patients a new avenue for connecting with others. The program has been featured in The Plain Dealer as an excellent example of how local dance companies are reaching out to the community.
